I'm quite confused about the status of mail sending over TLS.

I still have to decide on what the final API for it should be before the Wt 4.3.0
and the documentation for 4.3.0 states
Currently only a plain-text SMTP protocol is supported. SSL transport will be added in the future.
Is it a finalized usable feature ? Can a Wt app dialog securely with a remote SMTP server ?

That note shouldn't be there anymore. As you can see in the release notes, TLS and authentication are now supported.
