With wt4, github 3.3.6-43-g9950bf57, there is a two second delay at startup using the default bootstrap mode, without Javascript. I believe this is present on the master branch as well. It appears to be a regression introduced with github commit 90a13fc2. It can be observed with any of the examples that use the default bootstrap.

Attached is a patch which helps with the two second delay, but likely introduces a regression by largely reverting the effect of 90a13fc2.
